Dear friend of KISSed Quilts,
After a minor set back, I didn't get to work on the fixtures as anticipated in January. My left knee decided it wasn't going to put up with me any more and produced an incredible popping sound and excruciating pain on Monday evening as I stepped into my home, January 13. The good news is that I've basically recovered, but not before I couldn't get out of the house for about 36 hours, then went to the walk-in clinic and got put into a brace with crutches, sent with an ace bandage for sleeping and had an x-ray taken. The results indicated an MRI was appropriate. That happened the following Monday and results said ...see an orthopedist. So, this last Wednesday I was able to see one in Spokane who diagnosed it as a torn meniscus. He released me from the brace and crutches and encouraged some straight leg strengthening exercises. Living with this will be the future until it gets unbearable and then at least orthoscopic surgery and possibly a total knee replacement --but hopefully not likely for a long while. So, we're back to quilting but being mindful of my knee!
Quilting Price Increase Coming:
All quilting services booked by March 30, 2025 will remain at $0.0175 cents per square inch for panto/edge to edge quilting. This will be going up to $0.02 cents per sq inch on April 1, 2025. All custom quilting is now $30/hour.
I've gotten some adorable new items, so please be sure to see them below. I ordered some of these so long ago I had almost forgotten that they were in the pipeline. But I'm sure glad they are here now!
All Pacific Northwest Shop Hop - Oregon and Washington are joining together in a quilt shop hop during April and May. There are multiple regions, so prizes by region and fully completing the hop. Please consider pre-ordering the magazine that includes your shop hop passport, maps, region lists, etc. I'm doing a pre-sale now. Include pick-up or shipping as appropriate. They will be available mid-February to start planning your routes.
 
Wandering Kit pre-orders will start February 16 and will ship or be available for pick-up in the store starting April 1. Note that at each shop you will get a free 5" square --unique to each shop (not shown here). As an option, they can be used in this design instead of the squares that you see around the outer border of the quilt or add another similar border beyond this one or some combination thereof, with the unique squares from each shop. This fabric cannot be re-ordered, so we are limited to the orders we put in months ago. I'll have a limited quantity of kits, so if you're interested and may not come to the shop until May, please consider doing a pre-order so that you can be sure to get one. I'm also sharing here two designs that will be available at Highland Quilts in Athena, OR. I was asked to do some designs by Highland Quilts with the collection from In the Beginning prepared specifically for this event for the Oregon shops. Oregon Icons and Oregon Scenic Rows.

Monday's all of February - Please RSVP if you're interested in attending. If no one has registered for Feb 17 - President's Day, I might work on the renovation as weather permits and needs arise. If you'd prefer another day --let me know! Even if a sew-in is scheduled, but it is the only time you can come to the shop--please call ahead and I'm happy to meet you at your convenience.
We will be closed during Special Events listed below (except Shop Hops). Wednesday - Feb 5 and 12 I'll likely close in the early afternoon to attend out of town medical appointments with my husband.
If you're interested in a specific class, let me know and we'll add it to the list of interests for when we're in the new space.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Sew Expo 2025 - Puyallup, WA will take place February 27 - March 2. The class schedule has been posted. I'm teaching 5 unique classes ...and one is taught twice. Check out the PDF Schedule in the link above and I hope to see some of you in class! This includes two new classes that use the EZPiecing foundation method -- a method where the substrate is pre-printed and is left in the project. The project remains soft and supple and you don't have any papers to remove! It really is great! I've also got Beginning and Advanced AnglePlay and two sessions of Beginning Quilt Making. This was sold out last year so we're offering two sessions this year to give more opportunities. I had a mother and daughter take it together which I thought was a great way to introduce this skill to your child.

Spring 2025 - Quilt Retreat - Hosted by Highland Quilts and KISSed Quilts
 March 10-14, 2025 at Camp MiVoden on Hayden Lake, Idaho -- are you interested?

 February is the "Love" month and it is my wedding anniversary month -- 16 years married to my lover come Valentine's Day. The last four years, while we've worked on the renovation of the old building, have been some of the most trying times. Regardless, I so appreciate the hard work my husband has been putting in on the space as time, health and weather have permitted. I'm slowly learning patience and appreciate all of yours as we work to make a better space in Grand Coulee for sewing, embroidery and whatever we get our minds up to!
