2022 - 07 - Half over! What's next?

Dear friend of KISSed Quilts,

We've made it half way through 2022!

I celebrated my birthday a couple of weeks ago with family and have been nursing mystery pains ...some for years so experimented with a protocol for the past 9 months that did NOT work. I'm so grateful to be off that drug and am already feeling better from that perspective ...but in coming off of it another pain showed itself. After a week of sleeping upright in a recliner I had to get help for which I did last Friday morning. Hopefully I'll be back to long-arming soon. And then Friday evening one of the Veteran's in our church who for many years was the Head Deacon and maintained the church property, took his last earthly breath. So grateful for our local long-term care unit staff that has taken care of him for the last several years. This is the quilt I made him and presented at a Veteran's Day Event at least five years ago. I adapted Christa Moser's Hollow Star design to use 2 1/2" strips and a moda Grunge fabric for background. Northcott Stars for the border.

This new year of life for me feels depressing already, the weather wasn't even good for Fourth of July yesterday and given it is difficult for me to type this newsletter is going out very late. Life isn't always about just GOOD stuff, there is bad and ugly bits too. I want you to know though that we're making progress on the new building and that really gives me hope for the future. Last week my husband won at auction a planer ...yes we'll be making new stairtreads with our new to us planer! Whoo Hoo!!

RETREAT --additional registrations are coming in! YEAH! I'm feeling good that we'll be able to offer the retreat with two meals a day this year. So excited!

We've got more space ---  Elaine Shaw of Highland Quilts in Athena, OR has decided to host in the larger room (Maple Auditorium  --not shown in these pics) at Camp MiVoden October 17-21 --same time as my retreat! So....if you've been considering this opportunity to 'retreat' ...there is now more room and we'd love for you to join us. Both of us will likely have some sort of pop up shops and be available to answer questions etc. This means breakfast and dinner will be provided-----if we get at least 30 people in total. I've currently got 26 confirmed. If you are interested please let me know. If you're on my list and would rather be a little less 'tight' on space ...you're welcome to move to the big room and invite some more friends too.

Dormitory style rooms w/shared bathroom --bring your own linens. $260 (linens available upon request for an additional fee).
