2021 - 09 - Taking care

Thank you to all that came through on the WSQ/ASG Shop Hop! For those of you new to my newsletter --welcome!

My local winner was Marilyn K. from Lewiston, Idaho.

Please check out some new products that have arrived and are featured below.

What a joy to share my latest creations at the Lincoln County Fair - August 26-28 in Davenport, WA - for my 11 entries--all got blue ribbons. Two got some special bling. I've posted them all at IG: @marlene.kissedquilts or FB: kissedquilts. I find it interesting to get constructive feedback from the judges so I can learn and grow. I've got a show quilt coming to my long-arm shortly and this was a good refresher to remind me of some of the finer points that the judges care about.

Here are two other large quilts that I just finished.

Quiltville Bonnie Hunter's Alletaire --2015 Mystery quilt which I started in 2017 and finally finished in August 2021. It is a larger version of her original and incorporates wonderful fabrics from my stash. Even a 'leftover' piece from a client's backing that they didn't want shipped back and I had just enough to do all the grey pieces in this one fabric. The black border is a vintage "Playbill" fabric gifted by a former neighbor. Quilting details were shared on IG and FB last month.

My #365blockchallenge issued by Kathryn Kerr out of Australia. I took her concept and went in a very different coloration direction. I'm calling it "Eternal Hope". I also added a 3" pieced border to accent the secondary coloration that I incorporated. I started this January 1, 2018, finished piecing it last Fall and finally got it quilted and bound, August 2021. Center 'beige' background medallion is custom quilted. All other areas are horizontal 3/4" lines using thread colors based on each rows background color. Top/bottom border got grey thread. When in the middle section on each side of the center medallion, I used the color of the accent.

Quilter's Trek Winner #1 at KISSed Quilts is Annette R. Congratulations! What a great quilt! Thanks for incorporating all 3 blocks that I got to design for this year's event in your backing. Purchase my shop's kit here.

Front, Back and close up of the label - so clever!
